Where did your career begin?

Wondering how to become an aesthetician? Get inspired by Dr Arora’s journey with us…

After completing medical school, Dr. Arora realised she had a passion for developing professional relationships with patients. Choosing to become a GP, she accepted that the job was “challenging and high pressured,” with so much reward on offer. She felt privileged to be a part of people’s medical journey, by treating those in need while educating them on their health.

However, GP work didn’t quite quench her passion for surgery. This is what she enjoyed the most at medical school. So, she branched out into becoming a medical aesthetician for a more “physical reward”.

Arora's now combining her expertise in her new The Face Bible clinic. Her amazing business located at the Fairmont Windsor Park Hotel.

The key ingredient to success?

Dr Arora recognises that the most important part of her job is trust:

“If you don’t have that, then you don’t really have a job”.

She knows that being truthful about what can be achieved through skin treatments is essential to her daily practice.

“If I don’t think someone needs something, I will say. If I think something is necessary, I’ll also say it. Being both honest and realistic about things is essential”.

But Arora acknowledges she has a much bigger part to play as a doctor. Using her Instagram page, @dr_rajarora, she educates her followers on important topics such as cancer, mental health, the menopause. Advising people with concerns to visit the NHS website or see their GP.

How do you empower others?

Helping patients understand their existing beauty is paramount to Dr Arora. Radiating positivity in everything she does, Dr Arora states:

“It’s all ethical, listening to your client, learning to say no if you think your client doesn’t need something because it’s not all about profits – it’s about giving autonomy and empowering the clients. Actually tell them something that is beautiful about them and tell them why you wouldn’t want to put 5ml of filler in their face.”

In such a heavily regulated industry, Arora aims to be a thought leader for building self-esteem through non-evasive skin treatments. Such as skin needling, sculpting and HydraFacials (only using filler when necessary).

Staying motivated in the job?

Dr Arora juggles looking after her child while running her clinics. Certainly no small feat!

A key challenge she faces is the negative media surrounding the NHS. But working hard to prioritise self-care, she reminds us to always make time for ourselves:

“I always take those 5-10 minutes at the end of the day for myself”.
